Project Description
The American University in Cairo intends to construct a new campus in New Cairo, a planned community currently under development. Most of the university’s functions will be relocated from the current location in the heart of Cairo, in El Tahrir Square, to new space on the new campus. The university is situated on a 252 feddan site, with a built gross area of approximately 181,075 square meters of academic, campus life, residential, and support facilities.
IETC/ECO has been employed by CDC AbdelHalim – SASAKI as the Structural Engineer for the AUC Facilities, including but not limited to AUC Park and Square, the Academic Facilities, Physical Plant, Library, Campus Center, Student Housing, Sports Facilities, Faculty Housing, President’s Housing Complex and Utility Service Tunnel. IETC/ECO Scope of Services is to prepare comprehensive Design Packages for each component of the Project, consisting of structural engineering design documents for the Facilities, based on the approved Master Plan Documents, Project Master Schedule, Construction Budget.
Also, IETC/ECO provide a technical office support on site during constrction period responsible for reviewing shop drawings and responding to all RFIs.
IETC/ECO WERE REQUESTED TO PERFORM THE FOLLOWING:
- Preparation of structural design drawings and specifications in accordance with the Project
- Procedure Manual, the CAD Procedure Manual, CSI Master
- Format and the in-house based Quality Plan.
- Provide alternative designs for the foundations/structural systems, floor/ wall/roof systems.
- Perform value engineering on all stages of design : schematic, design development and the construction stage.
- Prepare design deliverable schedule, with design milestones, and providing bimonthly progress updates.
- Provide technical office support on site.
