BENI SUWAYF CEMENT PLANT

In 1999, MBCC started its 800million LE cement plant, having Fuller – USA as main supplier, Arab Consulting Engineers – Egypt as structural and civil consultant, UZINEXPORT – Romania for Electro-mechanical installations and other contractors for civil works and utilities.
IETC scope of work was to prepare the workshop drawings for the Preheater structure, the Clinker Cooler structure and the Tertiary Air Duct supports. A total of about 2000 tons of structural steel, 60% of which is ST52-3 manufactured in Romania. The job was accomplished in 7 months starting June 2000. Over 2200 drawings and bill of materials were produced.
The Preheater Structure is a 104m high structural steel tower of 510sqm in surface area and a total weight of 1700tons of structural steel. The tower consists of 8 main floors and 22 secondary platforms including stairs and the passenger lift shaft. The design of vertical bracing was altered by IETC to suit the practicality of manufacturing and erection as requested by UZINEXPORT. IETC also carried out the coordination and the document control between the consultant, the workshops and the site throughout the detailing, manufacturing and erection phases of the project.
